One of the leaders of our street outreach — and living proof of where an outreach conversation can end up.
I grew up in a drug and gang culture and became a heroin addict at the age of 16. My addiction cost me roughly 23 years of my life in maximum-security prisons in California. The only hope of breaking the cycle of that revolving door was to invite Jesus Christ into my life and walk through the doors of the recovery home. It was there that I decided to surrender my will to His purpose. I’m indebted to His goodness — He has given me credibility in the community, and I’m honored to serve on the ministerial team at Victory Outreach Portland.
Through the years of sobriety I’ve equipped myself to become effective in my service to the Lord: Certified Recovery Mentor, Gambling Certified Mentor, Peer Support Specialist, Qualified Interpreter, Registered/Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor, and Violence Prevention Professional.
Today I spend my time as an outreach specialist in our community and church, helping men and women find recovery, stability, and purpose for their lives. My desire is to honor the Lord by bringing others to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
